My Story

“I have always seen the world as both a highly spiritual and a mystical place. I owe this outlook to my grandmother, whose stories were filled with mysteries, enchanted worlds and miracles. Every place, object or a person contains mysteries to be discovered. My way of exploring and capturing them is by painting, drawing and sculpting. Whether it’s the sunshine rippling across the surface of water, the sound of rustling leaves, the scent of the ocean, the softness of a cat’s fur or the sparkle of children’s eyes, these are the sources of my inspiration.” – Aurora Paulina Kay.

About Aurora Paulina Kay

Aurora Paulina Kay is an internationally award winning artist and art educator. She is represented in private collections across Australia, USA, China, Israel, Russia, Germany and France.

From an early age Aurora was immersed in the art making process, attending drawing and painting classes. She studied in art academies in Russia, Israel and Australia. After receiving the Sir William Dobell scholarship and graduating from the Julian Ashton Art School with a Diploma of Fine Arts she dedicated her entire time to painting and drawing.

Based in Sydney, Aurora works primarily in oils and watercolour. Her expertise extends to soft and oil pastels, charcoal, egg tempera, pencils and ink. She works primarily from direct observation of the subject while painting en plein air. The true culmination of both her knowledge and understanding of the world around her reaches its fulfilment in her imaginative work.

She draws her inspiration from the beautiful and rich surroundings of Australian nature. Throughout her life she travelled across the globe searching for that perfect place which she could finally call home. The diverse Australian landscape provides her with a movable feast of sublime vistas, brilliant colours and exotic vegetation.
